Overview

FTMO is a prop trading firm established in 2015 and based in Prague, Czech Republic. It states that it is not a broker and provides simulated trading only. This review covers its two CFD challenges, 2-Step and 1-Step, traded on MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView; its futures product is not covered. Facts were checked on 7 October 2026.

Programs and prices

Account sizes are in US dollars; fees are one-time and shown in euros by default on the English site. Regular prices:

  • 2-Step (Challenge, then Verification): $10,000 for €89, $25,000 for €250, $50,000 for €345, $100,000 for €540, $200,000 for €1,080. The fee is refunded with the first reward.
  • 1-Step (single phase): $10,000 for €79, $25,000 for €199, $50,000 for €319, $100,000 for €499, $200,000 for €999. The fee is not refunded.

Temporary promotions change some prices; check the price at checkout.

Rules

  • 2-Step: profit targets of 10% and 5%, at least 4 trading days per phase, a 5% daily loss limit and a static 10% maximum loss.
  • 1-Step: a 10% target, no minimum trading days, a 3% daily limit and a 10% maximum loss that trails the highest end-of-day balance ( trailing drawdown). A consistency rule caps your most profitable day at 50% of the profit from positive days, both to pass and to receive rewards.

All limits are percentages of the initial capital; the daily limit is set from the balance at 00:00 CE(S)T and checked against equity.

News trading and overnight or weekend holding are unrestricted during the evaluation. On the funded FTMO Account (default Standard type), trades on targeted instruments may not be opened or closed from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after selected news, and positions must be closed before the weekend. The Swing type, offered only on the 2-Step and chosen at purchase, has none of these restrictions. Expert advisors are allowed, subject to FTMO’s forbidden trading practices.

Payouts

The profit split is 80% on the 2-Step (90% if Scaling Plan or Premium Programme conditions are met) and 90% on the 1-Step. The first reward can be requested from the 14th day after the first trade on the account; the pages we checked give no fixed interval for later rewards. FTMO charges no commission on rewards.

Countries

FTMO does not serve clients in 74 countries and territories, including Iran, Iraq and Syria in the Middle East; Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Mali in Africa; and Cuba, Venezuela and Suriname in Latin America. In Ukraine, six regions are restricted. Clients in Australia and the USA are served through affiliated entities.

Before you buy a challenge

  • Compare the refundable 2-Step with the non-refundable 1-Step and its trailing maximum loss.
  • If you trade news or hold over weekends, check the funded-account rules and the Swing option first.
  • Check that your country is not on the restricted list.
