Who runs Hapi
Hapi is an investment app of Hapi Corp., a US company. Its brokerage services come from Hapi Securities, LLC, a broker-dealer registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a member of FINRA (CRD 311868) and SIPC. FINRA’s BrokerCheck register shows the same CRD number, SEC number 8-70646 and a main office in Portland, Oregon. Hapi Securities is an introducing broker: your cash and securities are held by Apex Clearing Corporation, which also executes, clears and settles the trades.
Hapi says Hapi Securities is registered as a broker-dealer only in the United States, and that investments are not protected by the rules of the European Union or other countries. Readers in Latin America would therefore deal with a US broker, not with a locally licensed one. All facts in this review were checked on 18 October 2026.
Who can open an account
Hapi’s help centre lists residents of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. A newer article says it has not accepted new registrations from Bolivia since June 2025, and it blocks Cuba, Guyana, Haiti, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. The home page speaks of “more than 18 countries”, so check your country in the app before you send money.
Products and markets
Hapi offers most stocks and ETFs listed on US exchanges — more than 12,000 securities, without penny stocks or OTC shares. Fractional shares start at USD 5 per stock. Its Form CRS (effective 7 October 2026) also lists options, corporate bonds and US Treasuries, with options at USD 0.55 per contract and bond trades at 0.35% (minimum USD 3.99); the help centre still labels options and bonds “coming soon”. Crypto is offered through Bakkt and is not covered by SIPC.
Fees
- Stocks and ETFs: no broker commission, but each order pays a clearing fee to Apex: USD 0.10 for whole shares and USD 0.15 for an order with a fraction during regular hours, USD 2.99 outside them. The fee is per order, not per share. Hapi Prime (USD 9.99 a month) lowers it to USD 0.05.
- Sales also pay the SEC fee and FINRA’s trading activity fee, a few cents on most orders.
- Inactivity: USD 4.99 a month for non-Prime accounts holding less than USD 100 that have not logged in for 60 days or more.
- The account is in US dollars. Hapi publishes no currency-conversion percentage; instead, each local deposit method has its own fee.
Deposits and withdrawals
- Cards: 3.85% per deposit (minimum USD 2.99), credited in up to 15 minutes.
- Mexico (SPEI): 0.45% (minimum USD 2.99). Chile (Khipu or local transfer): 0.55% (minimum USD 2.99). Colombia (PSE): 0.45% (minimum USD 1.99). Local transfers in other countries have their own fees, for example 0.55% in Argentina, 1.55% in Costa Rica and 1.5% plus Ecuador’s 5% ISD tax.
- Airtm: deposits 0.65% (minimum USD 2.99), withdrawals USD 4.99.
- International wire: no Hapi fee on incoming wires; withdrawals by wire cost USD 20 (minimum USD 35).
- Local withdrawals in Peru, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, the US and Ecuador cost USD 4.99 (Ecuador USD 5.00) and take 2–5 days. In Colombia they can go out through PSE or Nequi.
Withdrawals are only paid to accounts in your own name.
Protection
SIPC protects securities accounts at Hapi Securities up to USD 500,000, including up to USD 250,000 in cash. SIPC returns your assets if the broker fails; it does not cover a fall in their value. Hapi says Apex has extra insurance above the SIPC limits but gives no amount.
Before you open an account
- Check that your country is accepted in the app; the published lists differ.
- Add the deposit fee for your method to the USD 0.10 clearing fee when you compare costs.
- Log in at least every 60 days if your balance is under USD 100.
We have not tested Hapi with our own account yet; this review will be updated when we do.
