The quotes below are in Traditional Chinese, exactly as Taiwan’s regulators published them. This introduction explains in English what each of them says.

The first comes from the frequently asked questions of the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (CBC), in an answer published on 12 August 2019. It says that companies, firms or individuals other than designated banks that run or broker foreign-exchange margin trading business, or trade it on behalf of clients, must follow the relevant provisions of the Futures Trading Act, and that the competent authority for that Act is the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC).

The second and third come from an FSC press release of 2 November 2023. The FSC says that members of the public had reported companies of unknown origin engaging in foreign-exchange margin trading and other foreign-exchange business, or trading foreign exchange on behalf of clients with guaranteed profits. It urges the public to trade foreign exchange through lawful financial institutions, warns that foreign-exchange investment services offered by institutions without authorisation may involve financial fraud, and refers to its anti-fraud information area. It also reminds the public to invest through lawful financial institutions and says that its website lists them with their telephone numbers and websites.

The fourth comes from an FSC press release of 20 July 2023 on investing in offshore financial products. The FSC states that financial institutions that have not been approved to set up a presence in Taiwan may not provide financial services in the country, and that investing through an unlawful financial institution easily leads to disputes and carries many investment risks.
