Overview
XTB is a broker group listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016. Its Polish company, XTB S.A., is authorised by Poland’s financial supervisor, the KNF. Besides CFDs, which we cover in a separate review, XTB offers real stocks and ETFs: more than 7,000 stocks from 14 markets, including companies from the United States, Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom, and more than 2,300 ETFs. Fractional shares are available in selected stocks; XTB describes them as a fiduciary right to part of a share, not a separate financial instrument. All facts here were checked on 28 October 2026 on XTB’s own sites.
Which XTB company you deal with
XTB runs a site for each country or region, and each footer names a different company:
- International site (English) and Latin American site (Spanish): XTB International Limited, authorised by the Financial Services Commission of Belize (No. 6442514).
- Spain: XTB S.A., Sucursal en España, in the CNMV register (No. 40).
- France: XTB S.A. Succursale française, controlled by the AMF and, under XTB S.A.’s KNF authorisation, by the ACPR (No. 11533 LS); it is authorised on French territory only.
- Germany: XTB S.A. German Branch, registered with BaFin and supervised by the KNF.
- Portugal: XTB, S.A – Sucursal em Portugal, registered with the CMVM (No. 341).
- Italy: the footer names XTB S.A. (KNF) among the group companies and says accounts opened before 2 September 2021 are with the Cyprus company.
- Cyprus: XTB Limited, CySEC licence 169/12.
- United Arab Emirates: XTB MENA Limited, regulated by the DFSA (F006316).
- Chile: XTB Agente de Valores SpA, registered with the CMF (No. 216), for accounts opened since 2 July 2025.
XTB does not publish a list of countries where it accepts clients, and no page says which company opens an account for a resident of Africa, of the Middle East outside the UAE or of Latin America outside Chile. For that reason XTB does not appear on our country pages. Check the company named in your account agreement before you fund it.
Costs
On every XTB site we read, buying stocks and ETFs carries no commission up to a monthly turnover of 100,000 EUR. Above that, XTB charges 0.2% per trade with a minimum of 10 EUR (the French page gives no minimum). If a stock is quoted in a currency other than your account’s, XTB adds a 0.5% conversion fee, so buying a US share from a euro account costs 0.5% of the amount converted even when the commission is zero.
The smallest stock investment is 10 USD on the international site, 10 EUR in Spain, Italy and Chile, and 1 EUR in France, Germany and Portugal. Account opening and maintenance are free for active clients; we found no inactivity or custody fee on the stock and ETF pages.
There is no minimum deposit on the international, Latin American, UAE, Cyprus, Spanish and Italian sites; the French, German, Portuguese and Chilean sites ask for 1 EUR.
Protection
The Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese sites show protection of uninvested funds up to 20,100 EUR, without naming the scheme behind it. XTB International and XTB MENA say client money is kept in a separate bank account from the company’s funds and name no compensation scheme. The Cyprus site names none either.
Deposits and withdrawals
Deposits by card, bank transfer and online payment carry no XTB fee on the international and Spanish sites, although your bank may charge; the German site also lists PayPal. Withdrawals go only to a bank account in your name: free above 50 USD and 30 USD below on the international and UAE sites, free on the Spanish and Cyprus sites, and 10 EUR below 100 EUR on the Italian site. The international site sends money the same or the next business day; the UAE site says two to three business days.
What we could not confirm
- A list of accepted or excluded countries, and which XTB company serves readers outside Europe, the UAE and Chile.
- The name of the scheme behind the 20,100 EUR protection, and XTB S.A.’s KNF licence number.
- The names of the exchanges behind the 14 markets.
- The licences in the regulators’ own registers: the numbers above come from XTB’s footers, and CySEC’s website does not allow automated access.
We have not tested this platform with our own account yet; this review will be updated when we do.
