Overview
OKX is a crypto exchange. Its global Terms of Service (last updated 17 September 2026) name a different contracting company depending on where you live. No African country has its own OKX company in the terms, so readers there — like all users not covered by a regional company — contract with Aux Cayes FinTech Co. Ltd., a company registered in the Seychelles; the pages we read name no licence or regulator for it. The pages give no founding year and no head office. All facts below were checked on 18 October 2026.
A note on our sources: okx.com sends visitors from the United States to the separate OKX US site. We therefore read OKX’s legal articles in its help centre and took fees, P2P, futures and earn from OKX’s Latin American Spanish pages. OKX says its fees may vary by region, so check the page shown in your country.
Which company serves you
- United Arab Emirates: OKX Middle East Fintech FZE, regulated by Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) under licence VL/23/12/003. The VARA public register lists the same licence as active.
- El Salvador and Latin America: OKX Fintech, S.A. de C.V. serves El Salvador residents who registered from 19 February 2026, and users in 20 other Latin American countries for specific products. It appears in the public registry of El Salvador’s digital asset commission (CNAD).
- Argentina: the Argentine branch of OKX Fintech is registered with the CNV as a virtual asset service provider (No. 141). This is a registration, not a licence.
- Brazil and Mexico: OKX Serviços Digitais Ltda. (Brazil) and OKX Bahamas FinTech Company Limited (some Mexican users); no regulator is named for them.
- Elsewhere: OKX SG Pte. Ltd. holds a Major Payment Institution licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore; OKX Europe Markets Limited and OKX Europe Limited are licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority; OKX Australia Financial Pty Ltd holds Australian financial services licence 379035, whose regulated services are for wholesale clients only.
OKX offers no or only limited services in Afghanistan, Canada, Cuba, Hong Kong, Iran, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Syria, Uzbekistan, Crimea and the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and parts of the United States. It also restricts derivatives in Australia, Brazil, South Korea and the United Kingdom, P2P in Brazil, Eritrea, South Korea and the United Kingdom, and fiat payments in Russia.
Fees
On the spot market, regular users pay 0.08% as maker and 0.1% as taker for the main fee group; some pairs have zero or special fees. Withdrawals carry a network fee that OKX says depends on network congestion; its public table is updated continuously. When we read it, USDT cost:
- 0.015 USDT on Optimism, 0.027 on Avalanche C-Chain, 0.033 on TON
- 0.28 USDT on Solana and 0.32 on Ethereum (ERC20)
- 1.5 USDT on Tron (TRC20), with a 10 USDT minimum (2 USDT on the other networks listed)
USDC cost 0.016 on Polygon, 0.024 on Base, 0.28 on Solana and 0.62 on Ethereum.
P2P trading
OKX P2P lets you buy and sell crypto with other users, with no trading fee. The currency list had 103 local currencies, including NGN, GHS, KES, ZAR, EGP, MAD, XOF, XAF, SAR, BRL, MXN, COP, ARS, PEN and VES; the UAE dirham (AED) was not in the list on the Latin American page. Each ad shows the other user’s price, limits and payment methods.
Futures and Earn
OKX offers perpetual and expiry futures. On the BTCUSDT perpetual, the maximum leverage is 100x for the smallest position tier and falls as positions grow. Leverage multiplies losses as well as gains, and positions can be liquidated.
OKX Earn includes Simple Earn, Stable Rewards, Dual Investment and on-chain products. Returns are not guaranteed, some products have fixed terms during which your funds stay locked, and on-chain products add smart-contract risk.
Proof of reserves
OKX states that it keeps a 1:1 reserve of user assets and publishes proof-of-reserves reports; the last verification shown was dated 3 October 2026.
What we could not confirm
We checked the VARA, CNV and CNAD registers only; the Maltese register showed a bot check, which we did not try to get around. We found no licence for Aux Cayes FinTech Co. Ltd. Bitcoin and ether withdrawal fees are in our evidence file but not shown here. We have not tested OKX with our own account; this review will be updated when we do.
