How it works

The buy fee is taken from the amount you invest, so you get (amount × (1 − buy fee)) ÷ buy price coins. When you sell, the sell fee is taken from the proceeds: coins × sell price × (1 − sell fee). The profit is what you receive minus what you invested.

Example: 1,000 invested at 60,000 and sold at 66,000, with a 0.1% fee each way, returns about 1,097.80 — a profit of about 97.80, or 9.78%, not the 10% the price moved.

Break-even price

Because you pay a fee twice, the price has to rise a little before you are even. With 0.1% on each side and a buy price of 60,000, the break-even sell price is about 60,120.

What is not included

Withdrawal and network fees, spreads on “instant buy” screens, and taxes are not included. Check your exchange’s fee page for the rate that applies to your account, and remember that crypto prices can fall as fast as they rise.
