Who runs GBM

GBM is the brand of Grupo Bursátil Mexicano, S.A. de C.V., Casa de Bolsa, a Mexican brokerage firm (casa de bolsa). Its brokerage contract says the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) authorised it to operate as a casa de bolsa by official letter 312-3/852612/2007 of 17 December 2007. GBM says it was founded in 1985, and it lists offices in Mexico City and Monterrey. Its two apps, GBM and GBM+, are the casa de bolsa’s own online platforms.

The CNBV’s public register showed a bot check when we tried to open it, so the authorisation above comes from GBM’s own documents. All facts in this review were checked on 18 October 2026.

GBM does not publish a list of accepted countries. To remove the deposit limits on an account it asks for a valid INE (Mexico’s voter ID) and a proof of address.

Accounts and markets

  • Trading MX: shares, ETFs, FIBRAs and funds listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), plus foreign securities quoted on the SIC (Sistema Internacional de Cotizaciones). There is no fixed minimum: you need enough to buy whole instruments.
  • Trading USA: whole or fractional shares, ETFs and ADRs listed on the NYSE and Nasdaq, from MXN 100, with orders from USD 1. The account is kept in US dollars. US trades are executed and held by DriveWealth, the US broker GBM works with; GBM’s pages do not name DriveWealth’s regulator.
  • Funds: more than 25 GBM funds and over 300 external funds.
  • Bonds: bonds, CETES and currencies appear in the Personal service level, which starts at MXN 300,000 of total investment. The levels are Plus (no minimum), Personal (MXN 300,000), Premium (MXN 2 million) and Private (MXN 20 million).

Fees

  • Trading USA: a commission of 0.25% on every buy or sell. GBM’s services guide says VAT is added to its commissions. No minimum or maximum per order is published.
  • Trading MX: brokerage of 0.25% while your average traded amount over the last three months is up to MXN 1,000,000, falling step by step to 0.10% above MXN 10 million.
  • Funds charge an annual fee of 1% to 2.75% depending on the series.
  • GBM does not publish what it charges to convert pesos into dollars for Trading USA, and it states no inactivity or custody fee for its trading accounts.

Deposits and withdrawals

You deposit by bank transfer to your account’s CLABE from your banking app; GBM says the money arrives in minutes. The contract rules out cash deposits. Withdrawals go only to bank accounts in Mexico’s SPEI network — transfers to foreign banks are not possible — and GBM charges no fee for them. Smart Cash and Trading MX withdrawals requested on business days between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Mexico City time) arrive in minutes. Money in Trading USA must first be moved to Smart Cash and settle for one business day before you can withdraw it.

What we could not confirm

GBM’s pages name no investor-compensation scheme, neither for its Mexican accounts nor for the US accounts held by DriveWealth. We found no published exchange-rate margin and no country list. The register check at the CNBV was blocked, as noted above.

Before you open an account

  • Compare the 0.25% Trading USA commission, plus VAT, with the size of your usual order.
  • Ask GBM which exchange rate it applies when you move pesos into Trading USA.
  • If you do not live in Mexico, ask GBM whether you can open an account.

We have not tested GBM with our own account yet; this review will be updated when we do.
